Museum Awarded Humanities Grant

Missouri Humanities Awards Grant to the Museum

The Missouri Humanities Council (MHC) has awarded a grant of $1947.00 to the St. Charles County Veterans Museum in support of the project “Interview with Heroes – Our Military Veterans.”  The MHC is the only statewide agency in Missouri devoted exclusively to humanities education for citizens of all ages. It has served as a state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities since 1971.

Beginning this month, the museum will recruit and utilize local high school juniors and seniors to interview local veterans or their family members.  Our local Veteran’s story will be video recorded, summarized, and sent to the Library of Congress in Washington D.C.  for preservation.  The story will also be placed on the museum website.

The grant is to purchase recording devices and equipment for the project.

The project will include pre-interview training and coaching by museum mentors. The St. Charles County Veterans Museum is located at 410 East Elm St. in O’Fallon, MO 63366.  For more information about the project, call Jim or Garvis at 636-294-2657.
