Ralph Must Be Watching Over Us!
MUSEUM REOPENING SOON! Not many folks realize we had two floods affecting the museum in 2022. Flood number one happened on July 26th when our community experienced fourteen inches of rainfall. Our offsite storage facility flooded requiring us to move all our stored artifacts into a conditioned storage facility until recently. Then exactly six months later, on December 26th we had two frozen pipes burst flood at the museum. The broken pipes forced us to close the museum until repairs could be completed. Fortunately, on both occasions, no artifacts or displays were damaged. Sadly, many of our neighbors were not so fortunate.
Repairs are nearly complete, all artifacts are back in place, and final cleaning started in earnest this week. We are adding several new and exciting displays along with new scavenger hunts for all ages. So far, no one has guessed the contents of the box from the Seabees at Pearl Harbor. What’s your guess?
We will reopen on Friday, February 17th at 10:00 AM. Because we are short volunteers (numbers, not height), we will be open on Fridays and Saturday from 10:00 to 5:00 PM. Our hope is to add new volunteers and expand to Wednesday through Saturday in early spring.
We hope to see you soon!
