Stanley S. Foltz was born 4-MAR 1918 in Wentzville MO. Stanley’s parents were Arch L. Foltz (1885-1963) and Adelia A. Nieuhueser Foltz (1887-1973). He had one sister, Goldie Foltz.
Foltz attended Wentzville Public School and St Charles High School. He was employed at the Green Lantern Café and Service Station. He enlisted in the army on 12-MAY 1941.
On 3-JUL 1941, at about 10:30 PM, Stanley was driving his car, along with three passengers, on the way back to Fort Leonard Wood. He drove onto the shoulder to avoid a collision with another car, hit gravel and the car flipped. The accident occurred on Highway 17 near Crocker MO (about 17 miles from the Fort). Private Leroy Schulte of Wentzville was killed instantly along with Grady Dowdy of Malden MO. Stanley was taken to the base hospital and died the next morning at 0530 4-JUL 1941, before his parents could reach his bedside. He was 23 years old. A fourth passenger, another friend, Sam Anselm survived. Stanley Foltz is buried in Linn Cemetery in Wentzville.
