Jay Clay Freeman was born 12-SEP 1913 in Mexico MO. His father was Joe Clay Freeman 1886-1937) and his mother was Bessie L. Wingo Freeman (1893-1985). He had one sister; Mildred. Jay registered for the draft 16- OCT 1940. He lived at 310 North Kingshighway in St. Charles. At the time, Jay was working for L.B Price Merchandise Company in Kansas City. He married Minnie Gertrude Harris of Kansas City on 31-DEC 1937. They had one daughter; Barbara Freeman according to the 1940 census. Freeman was in the US Navy Reserve. The Navy Potomac River Command reported: Seaman First Class Jay Clay Freeman accidentally drowned near the Naval Air Station Patuxent River Maryland. He died 30-MAR 1945. He was 30 years old. Jay Clay Freeman is buried at St. John’s Evangelical Cemetery in St. Charles MO.
