Thomas Anthony Gibbons was born in Edina Missouri on 19-JUL 1920. Edina was a small farming town in North-Central Missouri. Tom reported for training to Jefferson barracks in January 1943. He was awarded his wings in February 1944 at Eagle Pass Texas. Tom qualified in the P-40 War Bird and P-47 Thunderbolt and sent to the Philippines in the Pacific theater. Tom would fly 124 missions in the P-47 Thunderbolt and P-51 Mustang with the 348th Fighter Group in the 5th Air Force until March 1945.
Today, Tom lives near the museum in Lake St. Louis MO.
