Harrison Gibson

Harrison Gibson was born 15-JAN 1894.  He lived in St. Charles MO.  His father was Reuben Gibson, and his mother was Hattie Gibson.  He had four siblings.   His World War I draft registration says he was a cook for Lindenwood Women’s College in St. Charles MO.  He enlisted on 18-JUL 1918.  He was a Ships Cook, 1st Class in the U.S. Navy Reserves.  He entered the service 16-AUG 1917.  He went overseas on 20-AUG 1918.  He participated in three submarine attacks in foreign waters.  He was discharged 26-JUN 1919 at Norfolk VA.  He married Catherine L. Ray, and they had two children.  His 1942 draft registration* shows he married Thelma Wilson and lived in Sacramento CA working for the Western Pacific Railroad Shop.  He died 22-JUL 1956 and is buried in the Odd Fellows Lawn Cemetery, Sacramento CA.

*Editor note:  The Fourth Registration, or Old Man’s Registration, was held on April 27, 1942. The purpose of this registration was to collect information on the industrial capacity and skills of men who were born between April 27, 1877, and February 16, 1897 (ages 45 to 64).
