Roland R Hosterman was born on SEP 1897.  His parents were Ulysses Henry Hosterman (1871-1941) and Jennie Grace Hosterman (1870-1926).  He had two brothers; Harold and John and one sister; Grace.  Roland served in the 140th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division.  He went overseas from Brooklyn on the troopship Schropshire on 25-APR 1918.  Roland was killed in action with purple heart on 28-SEP 1918.  He was 21 years old.  From American Soldiers of World War I: Killed in Action.  “Honor States” indicates residency of enlistment as St. Charles County.  Service number 1462330.  Hosterman is buried in Plot E Row 8 Grave 5 in the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery in Romagne France.
