Hubert Joseph Iffrig Jr. was born 19-MAR 1918 in St. Peters MO. His father was Hubert Johannes Iffrig (1890-1956) and his mother was Leona Mary Ruff Iffrig (1895-1973). He had one brother; Vincent Earl and two sisters; Genevieve and Evelyn. Iffrig registered for the draft on 16-OCT 1940. He was employed by Doll Decorating Company as a machinist apprentice. He had one year of college. Hubert lived at 2914 Minerva in St. Peters. He enlisted on 20-FEB 1943. Hubert Iffrig was killed when his bomber crashed at Rocky Point, Florida near Tampa Bay. His body was recovered and funeral services were held at the Catholic Church in St. Peters, according to the Warrenton Banner 21-DEC 1944. From Tampa Bay Times 13-DEC 1944: The bodies of all nine fliers aboard the bomber that crashed into old Tampa Bay as it was coming in for a landing at the field had been recovered. Hubert Joseph Iffrig Jr. is buried at All Saints Church Cemetery.
