George H. Jones
George Henry Jones was born 9-DEC 1886 in St. Charles MO. His father was Willis, and his mother was Belle. When he registered for the World War draft, he listed his occupation as a mail carrier for the government and living in Muskogee Oklahoma. He was single at the time he registered. He entered the service on 1-SEP 1918. He served in the 6th battalion, 163rd Depot Brigade. The role of depot brigades was to receive and organize recruits, provide them with uniforms, equipment and initial military training, and then send them to France to fight on the front lines. The depot brigades also received soldiers returning home at the end of the war and completed their out processing and discharges.
He attained the rank of Sergeant on 4-FEB 1919. He was discharged on 9-JUL 1919.
