Dan Marhanka graduated from Riverview Gardens High School in St. Louis MO in 1980.  He was a scholar athlete and a 1980 Missouri State Wrestling Champion.  Dan had aspirations of being a pilot at a young age.  He went on to pursue his dream at SIU Carbondale on a wrestling scholarship, then transferred to Southeast Missouri State University and was part of the ROTC program to pursue his career as a pilot in the US Air Force.  In May of 1986 he graduated and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant and assigned to Williams Air Force Base in Arizona.  While there, Dan trained to become a pilot in a T-38A Talon.
