Elmer G. Netemeyer was born 11-OCT 1928.  His father was Frank M Netemeyer (1884-1954) and his mother was Maria Anne Netemeyer (1894-1934).  He had nine siblings.  Three brothers; Henry, Paul, Ralph and five sisters; Martha, Marcella, Bernette, Julie, Mary and Alice.  

He registered for the draft on 11-OCT 1946 on his birthday.   Elmer joined the Army in October 1948 through December 1949 and later returned for Korea from September 1950 to June 1951.  He served in the infantry and attained the rank of corporal.  He was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington and Korea.  Elmer served in the 6th Army. 

His daughter Peggy Pheney and her husband Mike live here in O’Fallon MO.  

Elmer would serve in the Korean War.  His decoration and citations include:

  • A Purple Heart for action against the enemy on 13-JAN 1951
  • National Defense Medal
  • Korean Service Medal w/1 Star
  • United Nations Korean Service Medal

Elmer died 3-DEC 2015.  He was buried with full military honors at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston IL.
