Navy Corpsman Maxton W. Soviak was born 22-JAN 1999 in Westerville, Ohio and lived in Berlin Heights until the time of his enlistment. His parents were Kip and Rachel (Golas) Soviak.  He had twelve siblings.  Kathleen, Bryan, Allison, Marilyn, Alexandria, Josepheen, Griffin, Andrew, Joseph, Emerson, Charles, Nayla, and Finley.

Maxton attended Edison Local Schools, as well as EHOVE Career Center, graduating in 2017. Maxton was involved in the Boy Scouts, ultimately earning Life Scout, the second highest rank attainable.

After graduation, Maxton joined the United States Navy, proudly serving as a Navy Corpsman.  He was assigned to 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, at Camp Pendleton, California.

Corpsman Maxton W. Soviak died after a suicide bomber detonated explosives outside Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport Kabul, Afghanistan. 26-AUG 2021.  He was 22.  As a result of his brave actions in support of his fellow service members and mission, the Navy posthumously advanced Soviak to the rank of Hospital Corpsman Third Class on Sept. 2, 2021.

Navy Corpsman Maxton W. Soviak likely earned the following medals and ribbons:

  • Flag letter of Accommodation
  • Combat Action Ribbon
  • Sea Service Deployment Ribbon

He is buried in Riverside Cemetery in Berlin Heights, Ohio.
