Stankovich, Craig

U.S. Army, 329th Transportation Company

Craig Stankovich was drafted into the United States Army in the final years of the Vietnam War, being sworn in on 2-MAR 1970. Craig reported to Army boot camp at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and later was transferred to Fort Story, Virginia with the 329th Transportation Company.

Soldiers have little time to grieve.  The grief they feel when a soldier dies is indescribable. Yet, they must quickly move on.  One veteran said, “They haven’t died. They stay with us until we die.”

Craig felt the loss of close buddies while in Vietnam.
