Charles “Bean Patch” Wigham enlisted on 13-NOV 1942 and became a Naval aviator. It is likely his experience working for Vega Aircraft provided background qualifying him to become an aviator. As an aviator, he flew a number of airplanes during World War II. Charles served on the SS Independence (CVL-22).
