The “Dog Tag” – Ssgt Seamus O’Neel

Local U.S. Army Recruiter

Welcome to the Dog Tag, Episode XXV, Season 1 a podcast by the St. Charles County Veterans Museum

Beginning in 1973, America went to all volunteer military service.  An all-volunteer military isn’t without challenges.   Today the branches of services are struggling to find able bodied recruits.  According to the CDC, an estimated 70% of young Americans are unfit for military service.  Historically, family life has not always worked for military families and roughly 20% of the military are women.  Others say the combination of low unemployment and the ease of finding private sector jobs means fewer young people join the service.

Our guest is Staff Sergeant Seamus K. O’ Neel, a local recruiter for the U.S. ARMY in the St. Louis Metro area.
