A veteran is a person who has served in a military force, but to me that’s not all they do! To me, a veteran is a person with a brave heart, a kind spirit and courageous mind. Veterans are away from their families and friends for weeks and sometimes years, but they fight for our freedom, no matter the cost. It weren’t for veterans, America would not be the same! They go out on that battlefield, load their guns, and fight for us and our country. Some veterans might not even make it home and die alone, but they die with dignity and honor. Veterans inspire others and make the world a safe and better place. I’ve never had bullets fly by my head before, but I’ve experienced freedom because of the men and women who did.

Veterans are an inspiration to me. When I think about a Veteran, the first thing that comes to mind is a life saver. Someone who puts their life on the line to save someone else’s. I appreciate them most because of their courage. The pain frightens them, but they know what they are fighting for. A Veteran is my inspiration. They inspire me to keep moving forward and that anything is possible. They push me to do great things in life. To help someone in need, just like they do. A famous quote from Douglas MacArthur says, “The soldier above all prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war.” His quote is meaningful to me because it shows that if you put all your effort into what you care for you can achieve great things. Every year we honor Veterans for one day. On that day, we should honor them because a Veteran deserves a lot.

What does a Veteran mean to me? A Veteran is one who is wise, one who has served, one that has helped the nation grow. A veteran is one who is willing to sacrifice and do the impossible. Veterans are ones who honor, have courage, respect and persevere. Veterans are our heroes, they deserve our celebration and appreciation. They risked their lives just to save ours from the threats the world could bring. Although some are blessed enough to still be here today, they say the genuine heroes are those who didn’t return from the war. Remember Veterans, for they have made this nation proud.
